Canvas assets include action controls
Every image and video on the canvas exposes controls for common next steps.
Add an asset to a shot
At the top left is the Add to Shot button. Click this to open a menu that allows you to set the image or video as a Shot within the Scene timeline. Click directly on the Shot name to add the image/video to that shot or you can click “+New Shot” to add the image/video to a new shot in the Scene.
Click the checkmark box to unassign the image/video from that shot. If the image/video is not yet assigned to a Shot and you click the check mark, you will instantly create a brand new Shot in the Scene and the image/video will be assigned to that Shot.
Prompt Info
Every asset on canvas has a Prompt Info button with a preview of the prompt used. You can toggle this Prompt info on/off/on-hover using the canvas view options. Click the prompt info button to open the Prompt Info window. If you want to learn more about the Prompt Info Window please visit Prompt info and workflow
Use target and reference controls
Depending on the asset type and model used, you can use target-style controls to:
-
Set an image as a start frame
-
Set an image as an end frame
-
Add an image as a prompt reference
-
Add an image as an ingredient
-
Add a video as a reference
The Three Dot Menu in the top right provides access to various functions.
Add to Shot works in the same way as the Shot button in the top left corner.
‘Add to…’ allows you to save your image from canvas to Characters, Locations, and Props to be used for easy consistency in the prompt box.
Edit in Photoshop is a quick link to move your image in and out of Photoshop for editing and is covered in detail in the Edit in Photoshop section.
The Reuse button instantly places the Image/video prompt, style or camera bag assets, and model into the prompt box for you to use again.
Video Options
Videos on the canvas have a play bar under the image. On the right of the play bar is an additional 3-dot menu.
Trim Video
For videos, the trim action adds a draggable yellow range on the play bar so you can adjust the in and out points of the clip.
You can choose to extract the Current Frame where the play head is, the Start Frame of the video, the End Frame of the video, or every single frame of the video using All Frames.
These buttons all instantly generate these frames onto the canvas for you to use as references or start/end frames
Learn the asset controls well. A lot of Preview’s speed comes from doing the next step directly on the canvas instead of jumping across views.
