Canvas assets include action controls
Every image and video on the canvas exposes controls for common next steps.
Add an asset to a shot
The Add to Shot control opens a menu where you can:
- Add the asset to an existing shot
- Create a new shot and assign it immediately
- Unassign the asset from a shot that already has it
If the asset is not assigned yet and you use the checkmark on a shot, Preview creates a new shot and assigns the asset there.
Open Prompt Info
The Prompt Info button opens the history for that asset and also shows prompt-related details directly on the asset, including the model used and whether styles or Camera Bag settings were attached.
Use target and reference controls
Depending on the asset type and workflow, you can use target-style controls to:
- Set an image as a start frame
- Set an image as an end frame
- Add an image as a prompt reference
Trim a video
For videos, the trim action adds a draggable yellow range on the play bar so you can adjust the in and out points of the clip.
The three-dot menu is where broader asset actions usually live, such as saving to the library or opening related workflows.
Learn the asset controls well. A lot of Preview’s speed comes from doing the next step directly on the canvas instead of jumping across views.
