What the scene timeline shows
The scene timeline sits at the top of the canvas. When you add an image or video to a shot, it appears in the timeline for that scene.
Manage shots inside a scene
From the scene timeline, you can:
- Drag shots to reorder them inside the scene
- Drag takes to reorder them within a shot
- Right click to remove an image or video from a shot
- Right click to delete the shot itself
- Open shot info for the selected shot
If you delete a shot, the underlying canvas asset does not disappear. Only the shot is removed from the scene.
Add shots quickly
Use the plus button at the end of a scene bar to add a single shot. If you need several shots at once, use the Add Multiple Shots workflow from the scene controls.
Work with scene-level controls
Right-click the scene title to open scene actions such as:
- Collapse scene
- Duplicate scene
- View scene details
- Copy a direct link to scene
- Export Scene
Duplicating a scene keeps the shot count, but it does not duplicate the existing media into the new scene.
Export Scene
Click Export Scene to export an XML file of all your scene assets that can be loaded into Final Cut Pro, Davinci Resolve and Adobe Premier.
Use the timeline when you want to structure a story while staying in the creative canvas workflow. Switch to production views when you need heavier metadata and planning controls.
