What the ‘Next Take’ box does

When the prompt box is open, Preview shows a black Next Take box on the canvas. This box marks the exact place where your next generated image or video will appear.

Move the Next Take box

The Next Take box will always try to snap as close to center of viewport as possible. The box will move with you as you traverse the canvas. You can use the Next Take Preview toggle to turn the Next Take box on or off if you don’t want to see it on your Canvas. Even when the Next Take box is off, the Radial/Row selection rules still apply.

Generation Type

Change Generation Type between Radial and Row to dictate how you want assets to organize as they generate onto canvas.
  • Radial: This mode will always try to find an open spawn location closest to the center of your viewport.
  • Row: If you do not move your view to realign the Next Take box, then each subsequent generation batch will spawn directly beneath the previous generation in a new row in the same column. Adjust your canvas view to choose a new spot on canvas to start a new column.
Move the next take box before you generate a batch. It is much easier to place outputs correctly from the start than to reorganize a crowded canvas later.
