How to install the Photoshop-Preview Plugin

Download the plugin from this link - https://download.preview.io/ps/Preview_0.0.1.zip If you run into issues installing the plugin please use this doc to troubleshoot - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/solve-external-plugin-installation-issues.html
  1. Unzip the file
  2. Open the io.preview.photoshop_PS file
  3. This will open the Creative Cloud app with a popup asking if you’d like to install a non-marketplace plugin. Click Install. Then click OK.
  4. Open a project in Photoshop
  5. Open the plugins panel in the Photoshop project. Click the Preview plugin option.
  6. Click the Sign In button. Click Allow to open your browser and go to the Preview login page. If you are not already logged in, then Log into Preview.
  7. Confirm that the activation code in your browser matches the activation code in your Preview plugin in Photoshop.
  8. You will now see your projects in the Photoshop Plugin viewer. You can step into your projects and stories and select an image to load.
  9. You can also click the three dot menu on any image in your canvas in Preview and click the Edit In Photoshop button. This will copy the image to your clipboard.
  10. Go back to Photoshop and click the Load from Clipboard button in the Preview Plugin window.
  11. This will load the image into Photoshop, you can then make any edits you want to the image then click Sync Back and send the edited image directly back to the same Preview Canvas.
  12. REMEMBER TO SAVE your image in photoshop if you want to keep your changes. When you send your image back to Preview the image will no longer be visible in Photoshop.
  13. Once back in Preview YOU WILL NOT SEE the new images in your canvas. You must open the History sidebar and drag the new edited image from History onto your Canvas.
Check the History sidebar for your image if you do not see it on the canvas when returning from Photoshop.

When to use Photoshop editing

Use Photoshop when:
  • You need precise manual image changes
  • You want to clean up or composite a frame before reusing it
  • You want to return an edited image to the canvas for more generation

Return the edited image to the canvas

After you finish editing in Photoshop, the result comes back directly into Preview and behaves like any other canvas image.
  • Use it as a reference
  • Save it to the library
  • Add it to a shot
  • Continue generating from it
The Photoshop plugin is a work in progress and we will be updating the experience quickly to ensure the best user experience possible.
