Every project can hold multiple Scripts: block-based screenplays that live in the Scripts panel of the left sidebar. Click a script to preview it in the panel; double-click to open the full editor over the workspace.
The Script editor: scene and dialogue blocks with library chips, the block add menu open, and the scene list

Manage scripts

  • Create: click New script at the top of the panel. New scripts start as “Untitled script”.
  • Rename, Copy link, or Delete from a script’s row menu; search the list from the panel header.
  • Switch scripts without leaving the editor, from the script switcher in its header.

Write with blocks

A script is a stack of five block types: Text, Scene, Dialogue, Parenthetical, and Transition.
  • Add a block: type / on an empty line, or click the Add block button on a block’s rail (Option-click adds it above instead of below).
  • Reorder or convert: drag a block’s grip handle to move it; its menu also has Turn into…, Duplicate, Copy link, and Delete.
  • Scene blocks carry the slug line, with INT. / EXT. presets; Transition blocks offer the standard set (CUT TO:, FADE IN:, DISSOLVE TO:, and so on) plus any custom transitions you’ve typed before.
  • Tab keeps you in the flow: it moves through a block’s parts and on to the next line, and on an empty line it starts a Dialogue for you.
  • Format selected text with Bold, Italic, Underline, and Strikethrough.
The thin rail on the far left is the scene outline: one tick per scene, sized to its length. Hover it for the scene list, click a scene to jump straight there.

Reference your library with @

Anything saved to your Project Library can be pulled into the script with @: Characters, Locations, and Props. A Dialogue block’s character slot picks up Characters; a Scene block’s slug line takes Locations. Chips point at the same library items the rest of the app uses, so the script and your canvas stay in sync. Name someone who isn’t in the library yet and the Unidentified elements popover offers to Create them as a library item on the spot.

Import a script

Imports run through Preview Agent: attach a .fountain, .fdx, or .txt file in the chat and ask it to import. The agent and Script view format the result to match your original: scenes, dialogue, parentheticals, and transitions all land as proper blocks, and the script is named from its title page or filename.

Script AI

Select any text and the toolbar comes with AI built in:
  • Enhance, Elaborate, or Continue the selection with one click.
  • Enter changes…: describe the edit you want, or dictate it with the mic.
  • Send to agent: hand the selection and your prompt to the main chat instead.
  • Reach the same tools from any block’s menu via Ask AI.
Proposed edits appear in place for review: Accept (⌘Enter), Discard, or Try again, with a follow-up field to refine further. When the agent edits a script from chat, its changes stream in at a visible caret and collect in a Suggested changes bar, where you step through them one at a time or Accept all / Reject all. On an empty script, a first draft applies immediately with nothing to review.

Scripts and the rest of your project

Scripts don’t link directly to sequences, shots, or generation — the bridge is Preview Agent, which has your script and the whole platform in the same conversation. Ask it to build a shot list from the script, storyboard a scene, break down what a sequence needs, or ideate new directions from what you’ve written. Your open script is automatically part of the agent’s context, so “board out scene 3” just works.
